Book Review: Kooky Pets

July 23, 2010 › Everything Else!

A couple of days ago I was given the honor to review an upcoming new book due to be published in August 2010. The book is called Kooky Pets and is written and illustrated by Koldo Barroso in collaboration with a group of very creative people known as the Kooky Pets Team. I’ve had the pleasure of having seen some of Koldo’s illustrations in the past and I find his artwork to be absolutely phenomenal!

Kooky Pets is an enchanting venture into the world of creature fantasy and the discovery of what lies within each and every one of us. The author delightfully introduces each character and revealsĀ  the soul mate connection we all have to our very own Kooky Pet. Meet Professor Amna Ahmad who spent five years attached to the tail of a Galap-A-Gogo pet. I love that word! Professor Zoe is a Magician who pulls Kooky Pets from her top hat and the ever so elegant Lady Pennington who makes her fashion statement by wearing Kooky Pet Tzoo Tzoo on top of her head like a bonnet. I love Favegan’s theory that everyone should just eat food that’s their favorite color! Hmmm, well, the candy makers will just need to find a way to make blue chocolate!

We all have our own “inner me” and this book helps us to see ourselves in the form of a Kooky Pet. The imagination within the pages of this book is mind-boggling. There is much truth of self to be found in the Kooky Pet’s quirks and personalities.

First Impressions Can Be Deceiving!

On first sight I thought this was going to be a children’s fairy tale and it would be wonderful bedtime read for the kids but the more I think about it, it’s got a subtle adult psychic kind of twist to it. The more I read the more obvious this became and the more I wanted to find out which Kooky Pet was me … but that will remain my secret!

If you hurry you can get your very own pre-order Limited Edition of Kooky Pets signed by the author! Just 50 copies have been reserved and they’re selling fast! If you miss this offer, keep an eye on Koldo’s website for an update on where to purchase after it’s August publication. Hint hint … can’t wait to read the next one!

Oh, and when they come out with a line of stuffed Kooky Pet toys (the toy makers really need to do this!) you can bet that this Common Owner will be driving around with her very own Kooky Pet in the passenger seat of her car! She can keep my lucky stuffed dog company! And of course, I’ll need one sitting on my desk, too (wink)!

I love your review! Amazing, I think you really nailed the feeling Koldo was shooting for with the book.

Thanks so very much for the support. :)
